Allan Jones, legendary former editor of Melody Maker and Uncut magazine, launches his second collection of backstage tales from the golden age of rock journalism, featuring Lou Reed, Elton John, REM, Sting, the Rolling Stones, The Clash and many others.
By turns revealing, scathing and hilarious, ‘Too Late to Stop Now’ is the highly anticipated follow-up to Allan’s first collection, 2017’s ‘Can’t Stand Up for Falling Down’, which was Sunday Times’ Music Book of the Year.
Allan’s career in the music press spanned a golden age, when rock and pop were full of larger-than-life characters only too happy to take music writers on tour, giving them access not just to iconic shows around the world but to long nights of booze, bad behaviour and unguarded conversations, too.
Allan will be sharing some of the stories he printed over the years (and some he couldn’t/didn’t) in conversation with Duncan Steer, previously host of music book nights with Nick Lowe, Will Birch, Baxter Dury, and John Altman.
