Felicity Cloake’s Adventures in Food, in conversation with Emily Chappell

14 April: GOSFORTH Civic Theatre.
15 April: YORK Crescent.
16 April SETTLE Victoria Hall.

23 May BECCLES Public Hall (part of the Beccles Food Festival – show starts 4pm).

Guardian food writer Felicity Cloake shares evocative and hilarious tales from her international missions, searching for new things to eat.

Felicity has cycled round France in search of the perfect croissant; toured the UK exploring the Great British breakfast; and comes to Settle, as her latest book, ‘Peach Street to Lobster Lane’, a culinary tour of America, comes out in paperback.

Felicity will be in conversation with adventurer and author Emily Chappell, whose back-to-basics globetrotting has often involved simpler refuelling: existing on gallons of porridge in the Alaskan winter; rushed foraging in Lidls during a non-stop bike race across Europe.

In an evening of entertaining, revealing and maybe even inspirational chat, Felicity and Emily will compare notes on their experiences, discoveries and misadventures.

Felicity has written the Guardian’s ‘How to Make the Perfect…’ column since 2009 and is author of eight acclaimed books, including ‘The A-Z of Eating: A Flavour Map for the Adventurous Cook’ (2016), the Sunday Times bestselling One More Croissant for the Road (2019) and Fortnum and Mason food book of the year, Red Sauce, Brown Sauce: A British Breakfast Odyssey (2022).

Emily Chappell is author of What Goes Around (about her life as a London bike messenger) and Where There’s a Will (about her experiences in endurance bike racing.)

Hi Helen, Hopefully we will have some more shows with her, but these dates are specifically because she has never done any shows in the north before! One slightly nearer (that isn’t on sale yet) will be at the Beccles Food Festival (in Suffolk; you’ll know) at 4pm on Saturday 23 May. Duncan
